Reading — 45 questions, 55 minutes

Passages with questions on main idea, craft & structure, and integrating information (charts, labels, directions). The trap is time, not difficulty — students lose points reading too slowly.

  • Practice summarizing a passage in one sentence before looking at options
  • Drill “according to the passage” questions — the answer is always in the text, never outside knowledge
  • Train with printed materials you dislike; TEAS passages are deliberately dry

Your 3-step study loop

A simple system that turns 4–8 weeks into a passing score.

1

Diagnose

Take a practice set per section on day one. Your weakest section — usually Science or Math — gets the most hours in your plan.

2

Drill

Work sets section by section. Read every rationale, even on questions you got right — the distractor explanations are where the depth comes from.

3

Pass

Re-drill your misses until they’re gone, then sit the real 209-minute exam knowing the format, the pacing, and the content.

Try a TEAS 7-style question

This is how our practice works: answer, then read the reasoning.

A patient’s intake for one shift: 240 mL of water, 120 mL of juice, and 6 oz of broth. (1 oz = 30 mL)
Math · Measurement & Data

What is the patient’s total intake in milliliters?

420 mL
540 mL
600 mL
660 mL
Full rationale

Answer: 540 mL. Convert the broth first: 6 oz × 30 mL/oz = 180 mL. Then add: 240 + 120 + 180 = 540 mL. TEAS Math loves multi-step conversions — the distractor 420 mL is what you get if you forget to convert the ounces, and 600/660 punish arithmetic slips. Always convert before adding.

TEAS 7 questions, answered

ATI reports scores as percentages, and many competitive programs look for the 70s–80s or higher, sometimes with per-section minimums. Requirements are school-specific — always check your program’s current admissions page.
170 questions total — 150 scored and 20 unscored pretest items — across Reading (45), Math (38), Science (50), and English & Language Usage (37), in 209 minutes.
Yes. Version 7 added new item types (multiple-select, ordering, hot spot, and supply-answer), rebalanced section content, and updated the science emphasis. Make sure your prep is built for version 7 — ours is.
Plan for 4–8 weeks of consistent work. If your science prerequisites are more than a couple of years old, give A&P extra runway — it’s the heaviest part of the Science section.
Yes — a four-function calculator is built into the testing software. You can’t bring your own, so practice with an on-screen basic calculator to match test-day conditions.
Retake policies are set by each school and by ATI — many programs allow retakes after a waiting period. Because our package is a one-time purchase, your prep access is still there when you reschedule. [NEEDS INPUT: confirm whether we offer a score-based guarantee and define its terms before advertising one.]
